Stability Ball Bicycle Crunch

IntermediateStability ball

A bicycle-style crunch done with your upper back supported on a stability ball. The rolling surface adds instability, so the obliques and front abs work harder to control each twist. A step up from floor bicycles for anyone wanting more core challenge and coordination.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set your shoulder blades onto the ball with your feet flat and knees bent.

  2. 2

Place one hand behind your head and let the other rest out to the side for balance.

  3. 3

Crunch up and rotate, arcing your top elbow toward the opposite knee.

  4. 4

Pause briefly at the peak while keeping the abs tight.

  5. 5

Lower back to the start with control, staying braced the whole way.

  6. 6

Repeat, keeping steady tension through the core on every rep.
