ABS

Side Bend Stretch

BeginnerBodyweight

A gentle standing stretch that lengthens the obliques and the muscles between your ribs along one side. It helps free up side-to-side motion in the torso and can ease tightness that builds up around the lower back and waist. Handy as a warm-up or a cool-down for posture work.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand tall with feet about hip to shoulder width apart.

  2. 2

Rest one hand on that same-side hip and stretch the other arm straight up.

  3. 3

Lean your torso toward the hand-on-hip side, letting the raised arm arc over your head.

  4. 4

Go until you feel an easy stretch down the opposite side, no pain.

  5. 5

Hold for 15 to 30 seconds, then switch and repeat on the other side.
