Partner Russian Twist

BeginnerMedicine ball

A two-person twist on the standard Russian twist that adds rhythm and cooperation. Both partners sit with feet raised and pass a weighted ball back and forth, rotating to load the obliques. Passing the ball forces extra coordination and keeps the core switched on throughout.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Sit side by side on the floor with your partner, both facing the same way.

  2. 2

    Both lift your feet off the ground and lean back slightly, keeping backs straight and shins roughly level.

  3. 3

    Partner one holds the ball, twists to tap it near the hip, then returns to center.

  4. 4

    Pass the ball across to your partner, who takes it with arms extended.

  5. 5

    Partner two twists, taps beside their hip, returns to center, and passes back.

  6. 6

    Keep trading reps, then turn to face the other way and repeat.
