Machine Shoulder Shrug

A machine shrug that isolates the traps and keeps the load on a fixed track. The built-in support makes it beginner-friendly and takes strain off the surrounding muscles so you can zero in on the shrug.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Stand between the handles of the shrug machine set to about knee height.

  2. 2

    Brace your core, hinge your hips back, and grip the handles with palms facing in.

  3. 3

    Stand upright, lifting the handles with straight arms.

  4. 4

    Chest up and shoulders back, glide your shoulders up toward your ears.

  5. 5

    Lower your shoulders and the handles back down to the start.
