Loop Band Shoulder External Rotation at 90°
This banded drill strengthens external rotation of the shoulder with the elbow bent to 90 degrees, a position that shows up constantly in sport and daily life. The loop band offers smooth, adjustable resistance to target the muscles that rotate the shoulder outward. Training them builds stability and helps guard against injury.
How to do it
- 1
Anchor a band to a fixed post at shoulder height and stand facing it.
- 2
Raise your elbow to shoulder height and bend it to 90 degrees, forearm pointing toward the anchor, gripping the handle overhand.
- 3
Rotate the handle up and back in an arc until your forearm is vertical over your elbow.
- 4
Keep your elbow fixed in place throughout.
- 5
Return to the start under control, then repeat on the other side.
