Backward Arm Circle

BeginnerBodyweight

Backward arm circles are a continuous warm-up move that gets the shoulders moving and firing before harder work. Circling the arms backward improves mobility and wakes up the muscles around the joint. It pairs naturally with forward arm circles for a quick, equipment-free shoulder prep.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand tall with your arms extended straight out to the sides at shoulder height.

  2. 2

Keeping your arms straight, begin drawing small backward circles with your hands.

  3. 3

Move smoothly and keep the circles controlled.

  4. 4

Continue for your target reps or time.

  5. 5

Keep the effort light and focus on smooth motion rather than speed.
