Hammerstrength Shoulder Press

BeginnerMachine

The Hammerstrength Shoulder Press is a plate-loaded machine press that locks you into a stable path for overhead work. Because the machine handles the balancing and limits your range, you can focus on driving the weight and squeezing the shoulders. It's a beginner-friendly way to build pressing strength safely.

How to do it

  1. 1

Sit upright in the machine with shoulder blades pinched together and feet planted under your knees.

  2. 2

Keep your head, shoulders, and hips pressed against the back pad the whole time.

  3. 3

Take the handles with an overhand grip just outside shoulder-width.

  4. 4

Brace your core and push through your palms to extend your arms overhead.

  5. 5

Once fully extended, lower back to the start, keeping your back flat against the pad.
