SHOULDERS
Freemotion Shoulder Press
An overhead press using the low pulleys of a Freemotion cable machine. Like other shoulder presses it centers on the delts, but the guided cable path adds stability and smooths out the movement. A good option for beginners or anyone dialing in pressing form.
How to do it
- 1
Set both pulleys to the lowest position and attach the handles.
- 2
Stand tall with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a handle just outside each shoulder, palms facing forward and elbows bent at your sides.
- 3
Press through your palms to extend your arms overhead, keeping your forearms vertical.
- 4
At full extension the handles should line up over your ears.
- 5
Lower the handles back to shoulder height under control and repeat.
