Bent Over Shoulder Stretch

BeginnerBodyweight

The Bent Over Shoulder Stretch opens up the shoulders by clasping your hands behind you and hinging forward so the arms lift overhead. Gravity pulls the arms up, deepening the stretch across the front of the shoulders and chest. It's a good way to loosen tight shoulders before overhead work or to unwind afterward.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with feet a little wider than shoulder-width and knees slightly bent.

  2. 2

Clasp your fingers together behind your back, straighten your arms, and draw your shoulder blades back.

  3. 3

Hinge forward at the hips, keeping your back flat, and fold your torso down.

  4. 4

Let your clasped, extended arms rise toward the ceiling.

  5. 5

Feel the stretch across your shoulders and hold for the set duration.
