BICEPS

Dumbbell No Money Curls

BeginnerDumbbell

Despite the name, this move is really about external rotation of the shoulders with a light load, working the rotator cuff alongside the biceps. Keeping the elbows pinned as you rotate the weights out strengthens the small stabilizers that protect the shoulder. It's a useful accessory for shoulder health and posture.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand tall with feet hip-width apart, a dumbbell in each hand resting by your hips, palms facing in.

  2. 2

Pin your elbows against your torso and keep them there the entire time.

  3. 3

Bend your elbows to lift the dumbbells while rotating your forearms outward, palms staying in.

  4. 4

Open up until the weights point away from your body, as if drawing them back and out.

  5. 5

Reverse the motion under control and return to the starting position.
