BICEPS

Barbell Bicep Drag Curl

BeginnerBarbell

A barbell curl variation where you drag the bar up along your torso instead of swinging it out in an arc. Keeping the path vertical and the bar close keeps constant tension on the biceps through the whole rep. A great pick for stacking size onto the biceps.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with an underhand grip and arms straight.

  2. 2

Bend your elbows to curl the bar, keeping it grazing close to your body until it reaches chest level.

  3. 3

Lower the bar back down along the same close path, staying near your torso.

  4. 4

Keep your elbows drifting back rather than pushing forward as you curl.

  5. 5

Move under control and avoid using momentum to swing the weight.

  6. 6

Feel the work stay in your biceps throughout.
