Cable Preacher Curl
A biceps curl performed on a preacher bench with a cable stack instead of free weights. The pad locks your elbows in place so you can't swing or cheat the weight up. Because the cable pulls at an adjustable angle, tension stays on the biceps even at the top of the curl, where dumbbells would let it fade.
How to do it
- 1
Set the pulley low with a bar attachment and place a preacher bench a couple of feet in front of it, facing the stack.
- 2
Sit upright and press your chest firmly into the pad.
- 3
Reach over the pad and take the bar with both hands.
- 4
With your upper arms resting on the pad and arms out in front of your shoulders, bend your elbows to curl the bar up.
- 5
Keep your upper arms pinned to the pad the whole way.
- 6
Once your forearms touch your biceps, lower the bar back down to the start.
