Loop Band Wide Grip Pull Up

BeginnerResistance band

This is a wide-grip pull-up with a looped band assisting from under your foot. The band offloads some bodyweight so you can train the wider hand position, which leans harder on the lats, shoulders, and arms. It's a useful stepping stone for building the strength and endurance to eventually rep out wide pull-ups unassisted.

How to do it

  1. 1

Loop the band over the center of the bar to form a cradle for your foot.

  2. 2

Place one foot in the loop and grip the bar overhand, hands set wide.

  3. 3

Hang with arms fully extended and your body in a straight line.

  4. 4

Brace your core and pull your chest toward the bar by driving your elbows down toward your ribs.

  5. 5

Once your chin passes the bar, lower yourself back down at a controlled pace and repeat.
