Assisted Neutral Grip Pull Up

BeginnerBodyweight

This machine-assisted pull-up uses a neutral grip, with palms facing in, which tends to be kinder to the shoulders and wrists. The counterweight offloads some bodyweight so you can build strength gradually toward unassisted reps. It makes vertical pulling accessible at any level.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set the counterweight and kneel on the assist pad.

  2. 2

Grip the neutral-grip handles so your palms face each other.

  3. 3

Brace your core to hold a straight line from shoulders to knees.

  4. 4

From extended arms, pull your chest up to the bar by driving your elbows down toward your ribs.

  5. 5

Once your chest reaches the bar, lower yourself under control and repeat.
