Loop Band Overhead Pull Apart

BeginnerResistance band

The loop band overhead pull-apart works the rear shoulders and upper back while improving shoulder mobility. Pulling the band apart overhead lights up the rear delts, rhomboids, and traps, all key for posture and shoulder health. The overhead angle adds a flexibility challenge, making it a great warm-up or accessory move.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hold the ends of a loop band, one in each hand.

  2. 2

Raise it overhead with your palms facing forward.

  3. 3

Adjust your hand spacing until you feel the right tension.

  4. 4

Pull your arms out and down, stretching the band behind your head.

  5. 5

Stop once the band is roughly level with your arms, then return slowly to the overhead start and repeat.
