Loop Band Chin Up
This chin-up hangs a looped band from the bar and puts your foot in it, so the band carries part of your weight as you pull. That assistance makes the underhand chin-up manageable for newer lifters or anyone still building the strength to do them clean. It trains the lats and biceps while you work toward doing them unassisted.
How to do it
- 1
Loop the band over the middle of the pull-up bar so it hangs down as a foot cradle.
- 2
Step one foot into the loop and take an underhand grip on the bar.
- 3
Hang with your arms straight and your body in one long line.
- 4
Brace your core and pull your chest toward the bar, driving your elbows down toward your ribs.
- 5
When your chin clears the bar, lower back down at a steady pace and repeat.
