Tire Flip

IntermediateBodyweight

The tire flip is an explosive full-body lift that recruits the legs, glutes, back, shoulders, and arms in one powerful effort. The heavy, awkward tire trains strength, power, and coordination in a way that standard barbell lifts don't. It's a demanding conditioning and power builder.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand about a foot from the tire, feet set for a strong base.

  2. 2

Hinge at the hips and bend your knees to grip under the bottom tread, arms straight and back flat.

  3. 3

Explosively extend your hips and knees to drive the tire up to roughly 45 degrees.

  4. 4

Slide a knee under the tire to support it and shift your grip so your palms face up.

  5. 5

Press through your hands to push the tire over and flip it forward.

  6. 6

Reset your stance and repeat with the next flip.
