Squat with Rotation

BeginnerBodyweight

The squat with rotation is a mobility-focused move that combines a deep bodyweight squat with a torso twist. Sitting into the squat while opening one arm overhead stretches the hips and side of the trunk. It's a helpful warm-up for building rotational stability and functional lower-body mobility.

How to do it

  1. 1

Squat all the way down with feet about shoulder-width apart and rest your right hand on your right foot.

  2. 2

Reach your left arm up toward the ceiling.

  3. 3

Rotate your torso away from the planted hand until you feel a stretch along your left side and hips.

  4. 4

Hold for 15 to 30 seconds, keeping your chest open.

  5. 5

Return to center, then repeat the rotation to the other side.
