Single Dumbbell Power Clean and Jerk

A unilateral clean and jerk with one dumbbell, chaining an explosive pull to the shoulder into an overhead press. Working a single side taxes coordination, power, and full-body strength, making it a strong carryover move for athletic performance.

How to do it

    Stand with feet hip-width apart, one arm at your side holding a dumbbell.

  2. 2

    Dip into a quarter squat, then explode up to pull the dumbbell to shoulder height.

  3. 3

    Drop back into a quarter squat to catch it at your shoulder.

  4. 4

    Drive up and press the dumbbell overhead to lockout.

  5. 5

    Lower it back to the start and repeat, then switch sides.
