Shin Box Quad

BeginnerBodyweight

The shin box quad is a mobility drill that opens up the hips and stretches the quads. Sitting with your legs arranged in the shin-box shape and leaning back gently lengthens the front of one thigh at a time. It's a useful addition for improving hip flexibility and lower-body movement quality.

How to do it

  1. 1

Sit on the floor with your left knee bent in front of you, thigh pointing straight ahead.

  2. 2

Fold your right leg so the knee points out to the side and your lower leg trails behind you.

  3. 3

Place your hands behind your hips for support.

  4. 4

Lean your torso back until you feel a comfortable stretch across the front of your right thigh.

  5. 5

Hold for 15 to 30 seconds, then switch your leg arrangement and repeat on the other side.
