Power Skips
Power skips are an exaggerated, explosive version of skipping that develops spring in the quads, hamstrings and calves. Each push off the ground aims for height rather than distance, training the fast, forceful contractions athletes rely on. They also sharpen coordination and rhythm between the arms and legs.
How to do it
- 1
Stand relaxed with knees slightly bent and feet a bit wider than your hips.
- 2
Step forward and push off that leg hard, jumping upward with the goal of gaining height.
- 3
Simultaneously drive the opposite knee high and pump the opposite arm like an exaggerated run.
- 4
Keep that knee lifted as you land back on the same foot you took off from.
- 5
Bring the raised knee back down and repeat the skip on the other side.
- 6
Continue alternating sides for the length of your set.
