Lateral Step Up with Knee Drive

IntermediateBodyweight

This step-up comes at a box from the side, then finishes by driving the free knee upward at the top. The sideways entry recruits extra hip stabilizers while the knee drive adds balance and coordination to the quad and glute work. It's a functional single-leg move for building lower-body strength and control.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand beside a step with one side of your body facing it, feet hip-width apart.

  2. 2

Plant the near foot on the step and push through it to stand up on top.

  3. 3

As you reach the top, drive the opposite knee up to hip height or higher.

  4. 4

Lower that foot back down to the floor with control.

  5. 5

Step your working leg back down to the start.

  6. 6

Repeat on that side, then switch.
