Kettlebell Goblet Squat

BeginnerKettlebell

The kettlebell goblet squat has you cradle a kettlebell against your chest as you squat, which naturally keeps your torso upright and engages the core. Holding the weight in front makes it easier to hit good depth and is friendly on the lower back. It's a go-to for learning squat mechanics and building lower-body strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

Set your feet just outside shoulder-width, toes slightly turned out.

  2. 2

Hold a kettlebell against your chest, gripping the horns with your palms facing each other.

  3. 3

Keep your weight balanced evenly across both feet.

  4. 4

Begin the descent by pushing your hips back.

  5. 5

Let your knees track out over your toes as you sink down, keeping your core braced and torso tall between your legs.

  6. 6

Descend until you reach a depth where your spine stays neutral, then drive back up to standing.
