QUADS
Dumbbell Kneel to Stand
A one-leg-at-a-time lower body drill that loads the quads and glutes while you fight to stay balanced. Holding a dumbbell in each hand forces each side to pull its own weight, so it doubles as a coordination and stability builder. Great as a functional strength move for less experienced lifters.
How to do it
- 1
Start on both knees, spaced about shoulder-width, gripping a dumbbell in each hand.
- 2
Drive one foot forward and plant it flat so you land in a half-kneeling stance.
- 3
Push hard through that front foot to rise all the way up, bringing the trailing leg alongside.
- 4
Stand tall for a beat with both feet under you.
- 5
Retrace the path back down to the double-kneeling start and repeat, alternating your lead leg.
