HAMSTRINGS
Seated Leg Curl
The seated leg curl isolates the hamstrings on a machine, which is valuable since most lower-body work is compound. The fixed path and support let you concentrate purely on contracting the hamstrings rather than balancing a load. It's a reliable way to add hamstring size and strength without much stabilizer demand.
How to do it
- 1
Sit upright in the machine with the thigh pad resting just above your knees.
- 2
Position your lower legs so the ankle pad sits just above your heels.
- 3
Hold the handles at your sides for stability.
- 4
Bend your knees to press your heels down and back in an arc.
- 5
Once you can't flex any further, return slowly to the starting position and repeat.
