Lying Hamstrings Curl

A machine isolation exercise that targets the hamstrings directly, which is rare among lower body moves. Because the machine guides the path and adds stability, you can pour your focus into working the muscle rather than balancing. It's a reliable pick for building hamstring size and strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

    Lie face down on the leg curl machine with the pad resting just above your ankles.

  2. 2

    Grip the handles for support and brace your core to keep your torso flat on the bench.

  3. 3

    Bend your knees to curl the pad up in an arc.

  4. 4

    Continue until your knees are fully flexed and the pad is high.

  5. 5

    Lower the pad back to the starting position under control.

  6. 6

    Repeat for your reps.
