CALVES

Standing Kettlebell Calf Raise

BeginnerKettlebell

A weighted standing calf raise using a kettlebell in each hand. Standing on a raised edge lets your heels drop below the step for extra range and better activation, and the kettlebells load the calves past bodyweight. A reliable pick for calf size and strength.

How to do it

  1. 1

Hold a kettlebell in each hand and place the balls of your feet on a raised edge such as a plate.

  2. 2

Relax your calves so your heels sink below the edge toward the floor.

  3. 3

Drive through the balls of your feet to lift your heels as high as possible.

  4. 4

Hold and squeeze for a moment at the top.

  5. 5

Lower your heels slowly back to the start, keeping the calves under tension, and repeat.
