A seated machine press that isolates the calves while the equipment handles your balance for you. A solid choice for beginners building calf size and strength.

How to do it

    Sit in the machine with your back and hips pressed into the pad and your feet hip-width on the platform.

  2. 2

    Place the balls of your feet on the plate so your heels drop off the lower edge.

  3. 3

    Grip the handles and keep your core tight so your back stays against the pad.

  4. 4

    Release the safety catch and press the platform up by pushing through the balls of your feet.

  5. 5

    Extend your ankles fully at the top, then lower slowly until the safeties catch.
