A simple loaded walk that keeps the calves contracted the entire time. By staying up on your toes you never let the calves relax, which builds real functional strength in the lower legs. Holding a kettlebell in each hand adds load and challenges your balance.

How to do it

    Hold a kettlebell in each hand at your sides.

  2. 2

    Contract your calves to lift your heels off the floor.

  3. 3

    Walk forward while keeping your weight on the balls of your feet.

  4. 4

    Keep your shoulders back, chest up and knees softly bent as you go.

  5. 5

    Continue walking for the length of the set, staying up on your toes throughout.
