Loop Band Standing Hip Abduction

BeginnerResistance band

A standing abductor exercise where a loop band adds resistance as you sweep one leg out. Balancing on the supporting leg turns it into a functional drill that builds both strength and stability through the hips.

How to do it

  1. 1

Anchor a band at the base of a fixed post and loop it around your outside ankle.

  2. 2

Stand side-on to the post, feet about shoulder width apart.

  3. 3

Hold the post for support and sweep your outside leg out away from your body, keeping it straight.

  4. 4

Bring it back under control to the start.

  5. 5

Turn around and repeat on the other leg.
