ABDUCTORS

Lateral Leg Swing

BeginnerBodyweight

A dynamic mobility drill that swings the leg out to the side and back across your body. It loosens the hips through the frontal plane, warms up the abductors and adductors, and fires up the small stabilizers around the hip joint.

How to do it

  1. 1

Stand about a forearm's length from a wall and place both hands on it for support.

  2. 2

Shift your weight onto one leg.

  3. 3

Swing the other leg out to the side with your toes pointed toward the wall.

  4. 4

Let it swing back down and across your midline like a pendulum.

  5. 5

Reverse the swing, using the momentum to kick the leg back out to the side, feeling it in your groin and abductors.

  6. 6

    Switch legs and repeat.
