TRICEPS

Tricep Overhead Extension with Rope

IntermediateCableMachine

A cable overhead extension using a rope attachment, facing away from the machine. The cable holds steady tension across the full range, and the overhead position gives your triceps a strong stretch at the bottom, so they work through their entire length.

How to do it

  1. 1

Attach a rope to the cable and set the pulley to about shoulder height.

  2. 2

Grab the rope with a neutral grip, turn to face away from the machine, and bring your hands behind your head.

  3. 3

Hinge your torso forward with a flat back and chest up, staggering one foot ahead of the other.

  4. 4

Press your hands forward until your arms are fully straight.

  5. 5

Bend your elbows to return the rope behind your head under control.

  6. 6

Keep your upper arms steady so the movement comes from the elbows.
