TRICEPS

Single Arm Dumbbell Tricep Extension

BeginnerDumbbell

A one-armed overhead extension that zeroes in on a single triceps at a time. Working each side on its own forces the weaker arm to pull its own weight and adds a stability demand you don't get with two hands.

How to do it

  1. 1

Sit tall on a bench with your core tight.

  2. 2

Hold a dumbbell in one hand and press it straight up over that shoulder, palm facing forward.

  3. 3

Keep your upper arm pointing at the ceiling as you bend the elbow to drop the weight behind your head.

  4. 4

Lower until your forearm nearly touches your bicep, keeping the dumbbell close to your head.

  5. 5

Press back up to the top, then finish your reps and switch arms.
