CHEST

Incline Svend Press

BeginnerBodyweight

The incline Svend press is a squeeze-press that isolates the chest, with the incline angle putting extra emphasis on the upper pecs and shoulders. Pressing your palms hard into a plate keeps constant tension on the chest, making it a nice finisher or activation move rather than a heavy strength lift.

How to do it

  1. 1

Sit on a bench set to about a 45-degree incline with your feet planted about shoulder-width apart.

  2. 2

Press a weight plate flat between your palms and hold it just above your upper chest.

  3. 3

Squeeze your hands into the plate the whole time to keep tension on your chest.

  4. 4

Extend your arms to press the plate up and out over your chest.

  5. 5

Bring the plate back to the start under control, never letting the squeeze relax.
